Off to a Great Start!!

I can't believe we are already starting our 4th week of the school year! The kids have moved into the fourth grade position quite easily and are off to a great start! I have truly enjoyed getting to know them over these past few weeks; what a wonderful bunch of students I have this year!! There are a lot of exciting things happening over the next month.....we will be participating in the annual Jog-A-Thon, going on a field trip to the Imagination Station, getting our pictures taken, and doing IOWA Testing. October is going to be a busy month! It is also the month in which we celebrate the gift of the Prayer of the Rosary. We will be praying the Rosary as a whole school this month. Please share this special prayer with your child at home; The Rosary is a wonderful way to come together as a family and to thank God for the mysteries of our faith!

March Happenings

We are all hopeful that the biggest happening in March will be the onset of some warmer temperatures! While we are waiting for spring to arrive we will be busy learning, laughing, and loving in the 4th grade! 'Tis the season of Lent. This is one of my most enjoyable times of the school year because we gather together every Friday to walk with Jesus in the Stations of the Cross. It is truly such a privilege to be able to participate in this beautiful devotion each week. If your schedule allows, please join us each Friday at 2:15! One of our Lenten service projects is providing 50 bag lunches to the Wayne-Wright Community Soup Kitchen. Each class will be providing one aspect of the lunch and we will be making sandwiches and packing the lunches as a school community. What a wonderful way for the children to contribute to those in need in our local community! We are also looking forward to attending the Ann Arbor Museum of Natural History later this month! The students are really looking forward to exploring the dinosaur fossils and visiting the planetarium! We have been discussing bird adaptations and Darwin's finches in science and they have a very large area devoted to this very topic! Think Spring!!

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year, everyone! I would like to wish everyone a healthy and happy 2013! I hope you all enjoyed the Christmas break and were able to spend time with friends and family. My niece was married on the Saturday after Christmas so I was able to see family that I don't normally see over the holidays! 2013 will also be an exciting year for your fourth grader! We are tackling 2-digit multiplication, long division, and fractions! I am sure the kids will amaze themselves as they conquer these more difficult concepts! We will also be finishing up our solar system unit and moving on to plants and animals. Don't forget, Catholic Schools Week begins this month. There will be many exciting activities. Please make sure you check the weekly newsletters so you know what your child should be wearing to school that week! I am so thankful that we are able to celebrate our Catholic schools and recognize the very special education that our children are receiving that combines faith with academics - what a wonderful privilege you are providing your children with!!
