Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year!

I can't believe we are already into the 2017-2018 school year!!  The year got off to a great start!  We are all getting to know each other and how the 4th grade classroom works. The 4th graders are excited to be able to take part in Student Council, the Spelling Bee, the Geography Bee, Honor Roll, and Altar Service this year!!  We will partake in field trips such as the Imagination Station, the Henry Ford, and the MJR Theater.  We also do special activities in the classroom such as The Thanksgiving Fowlies and Tiger Day.

I look forward to meeting all of you at Parent Night.  I am sure that, together, we will have a Fabulous Fourth Grade year!!

See What's Happening in Science Lab!!!

The Fourth Grade Students have had quite an exciting time in the Science Lab this year!  Mrs. Tucker has provided the students with many wonderful hands-on opportunities to explore the various units of study we have been doing.

We started the year with Matter and Energy.  The students were explored the different properties of matter such as mass, density, and volume.  They also explored the world of energy by creating electric circuits and magnet investigations.

We then moved onto our unit on The Solar System.  Students created models of the Solar System and Moon Phases.

We are now exploring Plant and Animals.  The students are learning about adaptations that allow plants and animals to survive in their environment.  We also have some butterfly larvae in our room that we will watch carefully as they transform into Painted Lady Butterflies over the next few weeks.

Happy New Year!

I cannot believe that it is 2017 and we are almost half way through our school year!  There are many exciting things to look forward to in the 3rd and 4th Quarters!  In math, students will be learning how to multiply by 2-digit numbers, long division, and how to add and subtract fractions!  Science class will also be very exciting!  We will be wrapping up our solar system unit by making Oreo cookie moon phase posters and then we will move on to exploring plants and animals.  In March, we will be taking another museum field trip in and we will be going to see the Earth Day movie at the MJR in May!  In the mean time, stay safe and bundle up and enjoy some winter outdoor activities with your wonderful kids!!
